Well, another lockdown is in place in England to go alongside those operating in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland and it seems we all have put our heads down and get on with it.
2020 with all the deaths and illnesses caused by Covid 19 has been one to forget. People’s jobs and livelihoods have gone down the pan and a lot of people not covered by furlough or self employed schemes have really struggled.
We made the decision at Race Night Services not to go into furlough in March initially to see how the land lies and it was a decision that has proven correct in the following months.

For us it is easier to answer by email as we can then supply links to information to help you, but for those who are not fans of modern technology a phone call is as they used to say in the BT advert “it’s good to speak”.
New Horse Race Downloads Coming Soon
Business has not been hectic and it is run since March at roughly 50% of what we would expect in a normal trading year. But it has been enough to keep the business running and more importantly we have been able to supply downloads to friends, families and businesses wanting entertainment during lockdown. Late November and December we will be adding some new races to the downloads page, including UK horse racing, horse racing from sunny Mauritius and some novelty races including UK trotting races from York.

These races we feel will help family get togethers and postponed office parties over the Christmas period when instead of us all being in one place together we will be in touch via Zoom. Hand on heart how many people before March this year had heard of furlough and Zoom?

I don’t understand her attitude at all. She was willing to spend her time searching for her perfect dog, spend money adopting the dog, commit to buying food, treats, dog accessories etc for the dog - but spending £255 on 3 hours of 121 training with a professional dog trainer is somehow a step too far.

Can I Get A Heat Pump For Free With Green Homes UK Government Grants?
There's only a few weeks to go until the new 2020 UK Government open up applications for the Green Homes Grant which covers the price of installation of Air Source Heat Pumps so it can be a 100% free upgrade to your home's central heating system should you be a homeowner on a low income.
The Green Homes 2020 grants are open to applicants who are homeowners, tenants living in a private rented property and Landlords. Call 0800 689 4483 with any questions, we are here to help.
Those on low income will receive their installed air source heat pump totally free of charge when using the £10,000 Green Homes UK Grant alongside our AOR Scheme - more details below.

How much is an air source heat pump and will I get it for free?
For
homeowners on lower incomes and in receipt of state benefits, the good
news is that a £10,000 grant will be available from the UK Government
Green Homes Grants. Households on low income can qualify for 100% of the
cost of the Green Home improvements, up to the maximum amount of
£10,000.
Free Air Source Heat Pumps - AOR Assignment of Rights with Housewrapped
For those people who cannot buy the system upfront and may not be able to get finance, then Assignment of Rights (AoR) may be the best way forward.
Under this agreement, the company installing the system will fund the
purchase and installation. They will then also be entitled to receive
the rights to any RHI payments that are made. This allows the customer
to benefit from a new heating system and improved energy rating and, of
course, a reduction in energy bills.
Tenants and UK Landlords Can Claim For Heat Pump Installations

a £5000 UK grant towards paying for this via the Government Green Homes

This new scheme will give over 600,000 homeowners in England a grant
capped at £10,000 to install home loft and wall insulation, ASHP air
source heat pumps, draft proofing via improved double and triple glazing
for doors and windows.
This awarded funding is eligible towards the installation of Mitsubishi Ecodan air source heat pumps when a House Wrapped grant application has been approved on your behalf.
Tenants, Landlords and Property owners that do not claim benefits and are not classed as low income can benefit for up to £5,000 with two-thirds being funded by the Government. This means that you can invest up to £15,000 and only pay £5,000 with the £10,000 remining being covered by the UK Government Green Homes Grant.

My client emailed me over the weekend distraught. He's not had many enquiries recently and whilst I gently suggested COVID (he's a structural engineer in London) he had the weekend to meltdown and start to look for answers himself.
I'm a sole trader and my website Google page 1 on Google UK for the search term "SEO Freelancer UK" I've been in the SEO/SEM industry 12 years this year www.seolady.co.uk
We first met 2 years ago, he ignored SEO and came back to me 2 months ago and wanted to migrate from his .info TLD to his.com TLD. Verified, Google Change Of Address Tool, all done in 24 hours. Important to remember. This was in May/June 2020.
I sent him a SEMrush pro report. He called me and asked "What is it? What does it say?" It was the keyword report. Nothing fancy. I told client to stop going down a rabbit hole on things he had never heard of (SEMrush) and ask him what he wanted me to report ("Everything, I don't know") and I didn't reply as I needed him to focus on his website not running off loose on the internet.
He was genuinely over excited to have met me and I was stoked to get to prove myself, before SEO work started we agreed on search terms and together we Google searched the phrases and the penny dropped he wasn't ranking at all. Sad client face.
30 days later I had demonstrated a gigantic leap for all of his search phrases. Party time, celebrations for Google page 1. Happy client face.
Second website he wanted SEO'ing, same routine, not ranking and in 30 days I had ranked him to Google page 1. Quiet client. He's moving offices, a huge task for one man and his company of 30 subcontractors and employees. I understand quiet.
Yesterday (Sunday 6th July 2020), an email out of the blue how he's panicking. He doesn't like my SEO content on his homepage. Note: I was in discussion with his developer to tweak this to be more aesthetically pleasing. I reassured him we could talk about a design compromise vs SEO.
This is where it starts to get odd. He called Yoast and spoke to someone. He's got a premium account, but in 12 years of my career I've never heard of anyone speak to Yoast. More prodding, he says it was a Yoast Partner but refused to forward me any emails.

I forwarded your reply to him, he then told me to look at the reports in his email that the Yoast Partner had sent. There as a report for the .info TLD showing a bomb in traffic, obviously because I migrated to the .com domain. Client is now on an extinction burst, screaming on the phone. Said he regretted meeting me more than he regrets his 27 year marriage breaking down. He was inconsolable. Said he was going to roll back both websites! This I did have to interrupt and beg.
I told him, I said "I'm begging you, please don't roll back your websites" I listened a lot, let him rant, lowered the tone of my voice and asked for 24 hours. Reluctantly he agreed.
I manually did a keyword search and yup, he's still Google page 1 for both websites
Client told the Yoast Partner I had told him about my Skyscraper Content, was it good? Client stated on the phone that the Yoast partner said that "No, it's better to have ten small blog posts than one (or more) skyscraper posts
Yoast Partner then said BOLLOCKS in their email when client relayed that I combined 3 blog posts into 1 Skyscraper content
This is where alarm bells rang. Also, they told client that his huge drop in Google (untrue) is due to a missing canonical tag
Client fired me. Refused to answer any of my messages or emails. I don't care that I've been fired, if the email is genuinely from LSEO then I would be concerned. However it could be a scammer posing at LSEO as it's the first company to be mentioned on your partner's page. Also there is zero mention of them saying they are a current Yoast partner on their website. The only reference is a 2015 blog https://lseo.com/kris-jones-interview-seo-expert-wordpress-plugin-guru-yoast/ when I use site:lseo.com yoast partner
Client refuses to forward me the emails saying he doesn't need to prove anything to me. I'm angry if he has been scammed the 2 scenarios here are LSEO.com saying
1 - A) Skyscraper content isn't effective and B) a re=canonical tag is responsible for C) [a non existent] "website drop in rankings" demonstated by the sharp decline of a TLD that's no longer live and is 301'ing over to his .com domain
2 - There's a company pretending to be LSEO.com. Which I can't prove as the client won't forward me an original email from them.

Thanks so much for this Nina. I had an enquiry last night due to one of
the pages you did yesterday!! It was the Wealth page, which kind of
amazes me as it’s a very new offering. I did it completely on the fly
after literally dreaming one night quite recently that I should offer
counselling around wealth and when I googled it the next morning, no one
else was offering this service. I certainly had no idea whether anyone
would want counselling for it.
But it goes to
show... a young woman emailed that she had lost relatives last year and is completely freaked out by having
inherited property and money. She doesn’t know how to be with it, she’s
panicking and it’s all slipping away through her fingers.
So, it’s going
to be a good deal of bereavement counselling with some old fashioned
pragmatic coaching about planning and saving I guess. Who knew this page
might yield a client, I’m surprised and really pleased
